**Info**

*Description*

Manatee have large seal-like bodies with powerful tails which they use to swim. They have two forelimbs (flippers) which they use to gather food.
Their skin is thick and wrinkled and covers powerful muscles.

*Size*


Mannatee are born weighing  about 40 pounds. They gain about 700 punds in their first year of life and at full maturity weigh about 900 - 1000 pounds.

Average length for a full grown Manatee is between 9-10 feet but they can grow up to 13 feet.

*Habitat*

Manatee can be found in the coast waterways of Florida, the carribean and northern South America.

They feed on seagrass beds and other aquatic vegitation. In captivity they are fed lettuce and other greens as well as vitamins.
